LED Strip Lights are more accurately known as LED Ribbon or LED Tape lights. They are a flexible ‘ribbon’ of small LED lights with self-adhesive backing.
Their flexibility makes LED strip lights incredibly versatile compared to traditional lights. You can bend them into virtually any shape, and they fit uneven surfaces, too.
Installation is simple. Just remove the protective backing and stick the adhesive side wherever you want the lights. The adhesive is 3m, the industry standard and the strips can be cut to size.
Most lights are rigid in size and shape, but LED strip lights are highly customisable.
You can cut the lights at 2.5cm, 5cm and 10cm intervals, depending on the type purchased.
Alternatively, send us your measurements and we will cut your lights for you, as part of our free made-to-measure service.
Types of LED Strips
We sell two broad categories of LED strip lights - single colour and colour changing.
Single Colour
We offer single-colour LED strip lights in standard colour temperatures and bolder hues, including red, blue, green, and pink, perfect for mood lighting.
Colour Changing
Our range of colour-changing LED strip lights includes standard RGB, Pixel Tape and RGBW.
They offer greater control and customisation, enabling you to change the colour and mood at the push of a button. The lights are called ‘tri-chip’ because they comprise red, green, and blue elements to create a kaleidoscope of colours.
This type of light is particularly suited to venues such as nightclubs and restaurants that want to create the wow factor.
Low voltage lighting
LED strip lights are low voltage, meaning you can’t connect them straight to the mains supply. You will need an LED Driver or a step-down transformer to convert the voltage. You can skip this step if you run them from a low-voltage supply, such as in a car or motor home.
You need to ensure you have the correct transformer for your installation, as they are not interchangeable. Please don't hesitate to ask for help if you have any questions.
Applications
LED strip lights are so flexible and versatile that the only limit to their applications is your imagination.
Use them as under-cabinet lighting in the kitchen, where the installation can be hidden b behind a pelmet. Add them to the plinth to create a halo effect over your kitchen cabinets, or use them as up lighting or cove lighting in a drop ceiling.
